IMR Awarded Contract to Digitize Harrisburg City Police Records
Conversion of Documents Will Increase Efficiency of Police Force

Harrisburg, PA - Information Management Resource - IMR was selected to assist the City of Harrisburg in the conversion and digitizing of approximately five million documents currently stored in paper form in the Police Bureau's Records Department. Records slated for conversion include incident reports, traffic citations, criminal histories, court orders and other documents. The large volume of paper records has created storage issues and complicates the retrieval of files.

The City of Harrisburg applied for a federal Justice Assistance Block Grant (JAG) for Police Bureau records upgrades as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (federal stimulus plan). "Implementation of this grant will further propel the bureau to the forefront in the latest in police-related technologies and equipment," said Mayor Stephen R. Reed. He said the document conversion will enable the city to better maintain evidence integrity and control and will allow the City to more securely store photos, video and audio in an electronic format that will interface with the bureau's other electronic systems.
